Radioisotope Troubleshooting Techniques

Radioisotope troubleshooting techniques can be classified into two types  [Pg.424]

Sealed-source techniques In these techniques the radioactive source remains within a sealed container. Radiation penetrates the column, and veiriations in the amount transmitted or scattered radiation provide information on the inside of the column. This is analogous to the use of X rays in medicine. [Pg.424]

Radiotracer techniques In these techniques the radioactive source is injected into a process stream. Subsequent movement of the source is monitored using radiation detectors located outside the column. [Pg.424]

The sealed-source techniques are the most common radioisotope [Pg.424]
