Quatemized blends

Quatemized blends were also prepared as potential membranes for DMFC, such as, quatemized poly (2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenyleneoxide)/bromomethylated... [Pg.136]

KGM and quatemized poly(4-vinyl-iV-butyl) pyridine (QPVP) were miscible when the content of QPVP was less than 30 wt% or in excess of 70 wt%, as confirmed by SEM and XRD [51]. The thermal stability and tensile strength of the films were reduced with increasing content of QPVP, but the elongation at break was the highest at QPVP content of 30 wt%. FTIR indicated that the electrostatic interaction of QPVP and KGM impaired the partial hydrogen bond interaction of KGM. The blend films were able to decrease the lychee fruit weight loss rate and rot rate. [Pg.324]

PVA-Chitosan Blend-Based Membranes Because the cross-linked quatemized PV A membranes have a low mechanical strength, Zhu and coworkers [148] blended this polymer with chitosan to improve their performance. Both polymers were quatemized with (2,3-epoxypropyl)trimethylammonium chloride and cross-linked in... [Pg.318]

PVA has been often used as ion-exchange membrane for fuel cell applications. Poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA) is a water-soluble quatemized copolymer with conductive anions (OH ) as charge carriers, which also have a certain tolerance to alkaline environment. In this part, we will introduce a typical example of cross-linked PVA/PDDA blend membrane as AEM for fuel cell applications conducted by Qiao and coworkers. [Pg.474]

Quatemized P4VP core PS shell/poly(methacrylic acid) (PMA) core/PS shell type microsphere binary blend systems have a common PS sequence in the shell. Material with three-phase separated microdomains, such as both dispersed P4VP (positively charged region) and PMA (negatively charged region) spheres in a PS matrix, was obtained in this blend film [51]. [Pg.160]
