Quantitative risk analysis influencing factors

As a prerequisite, the Risk Barometer should be based on an existing Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), in order to identify the most risk-affecting QRA parameters (e.g. probabilities of failure on demand of safety barriers). Factors describing the condition of barriers, named Risk Influencing Factors (RIF), are then defined for each QRA parameter. A set of risk indicators are finally introduced to measure the status of the various RIFs. [Pg.1385]

Calculation of Exposure. A great advantage of Risk Assistant is that it allows users to consider a wide range of factors that will influence quantitative exposure estimates (e.g., specific exposure factors for different populations, pathways, and scenarios) with a minimum of effort. Thus, a user can rapidly produce alternative exposure evaluations, including best estimates, reasonable worst-case exposure estimates, and worst case exposure estimates. Moreover, the system provides the user with information on the degree of uncertainty contributed by various assumptions used in the analysis, which can guide the user s future data collection efforts so that they result in maximum reduction of uncertainty. [Pg.195]

From quantitative side, HRA appears to be just a measurement of one general, human related contributor to the total risk level of processes passing over at nuclear power plant. StiU, it is very important to imder-stand that HEP is not the final goal of the analysis, just a way to reach it. Indeed, the very basic HRA question is not just only What is the value of HEP , but also (and much more importantly) What are the factors driving the HEP value reached and also (even most importantly at all) To which extent and how can be an impact of the factors driving HEP value influenced (reduced) . [Pg.281]
