Puzzle, perception

It was usually men who asked me why I did it. Some were amused, others puzzled. I didn t mind the jokes in the newspaper office where I worked about whether I left the building by window, roof or in the elevator. The truth is that I was an unlikely person to jump out of an airplane, being neither graceful, daring nor self-possessed. I had a bad back, uncertain ankles and could not drive with competence because of deficient depth perception and a fear of all buses coming toward me. A friend joked that if I broke any bones I would have to be shot because I would never mend. [Pg.602]

We shall now examine some ionic, pericyclic and radical reactions in which a molecule while still in its excited state reacts with another molecule, and how this greatly simplified but powerful perception explains some of the otherwise more puzzling features of these reactions. [Pg.403]

The consciousness resonance does not eliminate fuzziness, which is an eternal companion to any process of thinking and knowing. At the same time, when the consciousness resonance helps us to transcend the fuzziness related to a problem that dissolves, it opens space for new problems to emerge bringing with them new fuzziness to puzzle our thoughts and feelings. At any level of consciousness, there are infinite number of phenomena and processes challenging the swarm of our perceptions, of our beliefs and hopes, views and attitudes, aspirations and dreams. [Pg.132]

On the next trial, the teacher would complete the puzzle again with the exception of two or three puzzle pieces. The child would handle the next step successfully with no frustration and, thus, would feel more effective at the task. Eventually, with a patient and actively caring teacher, the child would put the entire puzzle together without experiencing significant errors or debilitation to self-efficacy. The result is a "can do" attitude in this situation, as well as perceptions of personal control and optimism. [Pg.359]
