The above-postulated types of substitution on the benzene rings are also characteristic of the hypercrosslinked sorbent MN-200 currently produced by Purolite International Ltd. (Llantrisant, Wales, UK) on an industrial scale. In its spectrum the band at 760 cm is barely visible and the absorbance at 700 cm is also small. Most probably the crosslinking density of this polymer is high and it contains only very few free phenyl groups.

Purolite International (UK) offers a whole series of ion-exchange resins based on a hypercrosslinked polystyrene matrix. A list of these products and their general properties are presented in Table 9.6.
