Most of non-chloroplastic type of hydroperoxide lyase has been reported to be membrane-bound one. Non-chloroplastic hydroperoxide lyase was solubilized from fruits of cucumber(26), pear(28) and tomato(27) with Triton X-100 and then purified partially. Watermelon hydroperoxide lyase was purified 42-fold without any particular solubilization treatment.(5) Chloroplastic hydroperoxide lyase was solubilized from tea leaves with 0.2% Tween 20 and partially purified.(15) Although attempts at purification of hydroperoxide lyase have been made, the enzyme has not been purified to homogeneity thus far.
