PSIDOM software

PsiGen (the structure drawing module of Hampden Data Services PSIDOM software) (26). 

The chemical structure files built by these software packages consist of connection tables, a form of structural representation used in the CAS Chemical Registry System, and in consequence by both CAS ONLINE and DARC, and incidentally in many other systems (including MACCS). Both CPSS and PSIDOM include modules for building chemical structure data bases on personal computers which, in the case of PSIDOM, are limited only by the capacity of the disk storage... 

In 1986, several microcomputer-based software packages have become available which allow not only the creation of chemical structure files, but also the capability to search for specific structures, substructures and text from the files. Four of these newly available packages, ChemBase, ChemFile, ChemSmart, and PSIDOM, were reviewed and the basic system features compared. 

Data Provided with Software. Table V shows the amount and types of data provided with each product. ChemBase and ChemSmart both provide sufficient databases and templates to give initial search examples and increased utility to the user. PSIDOM provides a large supply of templates and all of the programs allow stored structures to be recalled as templates. 

Four or five software systems now offer structure searching on PC s and databases are available for use with them. Some of these systems have faciUties for data handling or interfaces to database management packages (for example, PSIDOM can be used in conjunction with dBASE III). 

Of the PC-based packages, PSIDOM is one that has been aimed especially at collaborative software developments. There are PsiGen interfaces to the CA Registry File (PsiCAS in STN Express) to ORAC (PsiORAC) to Derwent data... 

All are compatible with the integrated PSIDOM range of software.
