This Divine Presence within the heart, is the true Grail. The quest is the realization and manifestation of the Holy Grail. It is what is meant by the completion of the Great Work of Alchemy, is called in the Emerald Tablet the Work of the Sun. Forman s recovery from plague is the opening episode in the psalm that chronicled his troubles with the College of Physicians.2 In it he imitated the surgeons who stressed their personal triumphs at the outset of tracts on plague and other subjects.
