Proteomics-Human diseases Medicine

APPLICATIONS OF PROTEOMICS I PROTEOMICS, HUMAN DISEASE, AND MEDICINE... 

The broad use of proteomic studies and microarrays seems to prove that such diagnostic tests are useful in medicine and research on allergens, allergies, and other human diseases (Ellmark et al., 2008 Person et al., 2008). Likewise, miniaturization of analytical instruments, which profoundly enhances research potential, stimulates the development of these methods. 

The methods of proteomics have been used extensively to understand human diseases, and the basis of medicine in alleviating these diseases as discussed in this chapter. 

Proteomics holds much promise for the diagnosis and treatment of human diseases and has a large role to play in the future of medicine as outlined below. 

The term molecular medicine is defined as understanding disease at the molecular level. For example, the deficiency of factor VIII causes a bleeding disorder, Hemophilia A [3]. Given the accomplishments made in the area of human genome and the emergence of proteomics, functional proteins that have important therapeutic value have been developed, and more will be identified in the future.
