The pathophysiology of this tumor is associated with major alterations in the metabolism of hyaluiouan, and it is thought that urinary hyaluronidase can be used as an additional marker.

IX/X-bp is a third type of protein and consists of two heterogeneous CRD-like subunits. There is also a fourth type of protein, exemplified by proteoglycan core protein and tetranectin, and these proteins contain distinct functional group(s) in addition to CRDs.
