Proteins ganoderma

Ling Zhi-8 (LZ-8) is an immunomodulatory protein (29,30) isolated from the mycelial extract of Ganoderma lucidium, that has been purified and shown to stimulate mouse spleen and human peripheral blood lymphocytes. LZ-8 is able to inhibit antibody production and prevent the development of autoimmune type I diabetes in NOD mice. [Pg.34]

Other natural sources of anti-HSV PS include fungi, e g., various protein bound PS isolated from Ganoderma lucidum, a basidiomycetous fungus used to treat human diseases in oriental folk medicine [98], The possible mode of antiviral activity of these PS seems to be related to their binding with HSV-specific glycoproteins responsible for attachment and... [Pg.403]

Canodermin, an antifungal protein (Mr 15 kDa) from fruiting bodies of the medicinal mushroom Ganoderma lucidum. Gan-odermin inhibited the mycelial growth of Botrytis cinera, Fusarium oxysporum, and Physalospora piricola [H. Wang, T. B. Ng, Peptides 2005, 27, 27]. [Pg.139]
