Prostaglandin synthetic analogues

Synthetic analogues of prostaglandins are listed in Table 4. Their use allows reduction of dosages and adverse effects. In general, they cause fewer adverse effects than their naturally occurring counterparts, although this depends on the method of administration. Newer analogues (3) and oral forms (4) are in development.

The synthetic prostaglandin El analogue, miso-prostal, has been used in combination with NSAlDs to prevent the NSAID-induced complication of gastric ulcers. It is well tolerated in patients with rheumato-logic conditions and does not interfere with NSAID anti-inflammatory activity. Misoprostol appears to exert renal vasodilatory effects in experiment models... 

Froben " flurbiprofen, froxiprost [inn] (ONO 995) is a prostaglandin and synthetic analogue of dinoprost, and is a ( elective FP) PROSTANOID RECEPTOR AGONIST, active in contracting uterine smooth muscle. It is used as a pharmacological tool, frusemide [ban] (furosemide [inn.jan. usan) Fursemide Lasix etc.) is a (loop) DIURETIC which can be used as an ANITHYPERTENSIVE and to treat pulmonary oedema. 

Tapazole methimazole. taprostene [inn] (CG 4203) is a prostaglandin and synthetic analogue of prostacyclin (PGI2). It is a prostanoid RECEPTOR AGONIST that iS a PLATELET AGGREGATION INHIBITOR and claimed to be cardioprotective.

Bimatoprost is a prostamide, a synthetic prostaglandin structural analogue used worldwide for glaucoma treatment. Bimatoprost uces lOP primarily by increasing aqueous humour outflow via the uveoscleral outflow pathway bimatoprost also appears to act via the trabecular meshwork.
