Propiophenone, 3-diethylamino

Acetophenone, paraformaldehyde and diethylamine are first reacted to give CO-diethylamino-propiophenone. That is reacted with cyclohexylmagnesium bromide to give 3-diethylamino-1 -cyclohexyl-1 -phenylpropanol-1. 

Diethylpropion Diethylpropion, l-phenyl-2-diethylaminopropanon (8.3.6), is synthesized by the bromination of propiophenone into a-bromopropiophenone (8.3.5) and the subsequent substitution of the bromine atom with a diethylamino group [25,26].
