Propagation values of the fracture toughness under mode n loading were insensitive to test environment for both CF/epoxy and ALF/epoxy laminates. Only initial values increased by changing the environment from RT-air to 77K-LN. This amount of increase was similar to that under mode I loading. Upon unloading the joint, the force-displacement trace not returning to the origin may indicate that plastic deformation of the substrates has occurred see ISO (2009) for full procedures.
