The tools also were used to analyze the impact of buffer expiration times, shift patterns, equipment sizes, and number of equipment items. Approximately, 35 different scenarios were evaluated during the project and most of the scenarios included major model updates. As the project evolved, the team s understanding for the processes, the facility, the underlying links, and constraints improved and the knowledge gain was used to improve the models. Figure 4.2 shows the evolution of the models up to scenario no. 15.
