Project engineering safety

It should be noted that these details indicate wood construction for the NG facilities which is normally not allowed by AMCR 385-100, however, these details have been reviewed and approved for use by the Department of Defense Engineering Safety Board (DDESB). In order to comply with the AMC Safety Manual, approvals may have to be obtained on an individual project basis. 

Those responsible for the project engineering of such a plant, who often have access to less than 50 % of the information on the chemistry to be performed later due to the reasons mentioned, can come up with only one recommendation if they seriously wish to meet the demand for a design for the worst possible case leave the lid off the reactor. The lack of practicability of this proposal, not least due to the violation of other process safety engineering principles, does not need to be elaborated any further. 

The intent of this subclause is to ensure that, within the overall project, adequate safety planning is conducted so that all of the required activities during each phase of the lifecycle (for example, engineering design, plant operation) are addressed. The standard does not require any particular structure for these planning activities, but it does require periodic update or review of them.
