Yolk colour plays a role in consumer acceptance, but the preferred colour varies in different countries. Yolk colour has no relation to nutrient content, flavour or freshness, but is often enhanced in conventional production systems by addition of synthetic pigments to the animal feed. In organic production, synthetic yolk pigments are prohibited and this normally results in paler yolks, but may also lead to greater variability in yolk colour intensity. In many European countries paler yolk colour is perceived by consumers as being associated with less natural production systems, an issue that clearly needs to be addressed by improved consumer information.

All of the monolith-based catalytic systems summarized here were successfully used as pressure-stable catalytic reactors. Bleeding was suppressed, leading to virtually ruthenium-free products (ruthenium contents of far below 0.1%), even in RCM [129]. 

Kouvelis et al. (2004) present a relatively simple multi-period MILP plant location model for global production network design with investment decisions only allowed in the first period. The production system consists of component-dedicated manufacturing sites and final assembly sites. It is limited to two production levels and one final product. The objective function maximizes the NPV of the production network. The main purpose of the model is to analyze the effects financing subsidies, tax regimes, tariff structures and local content requirements have on optimal network design. The analysis is based on theoretical considerations and a numerical example. More complex aspects of international trade such as duty drawbacks are not considered. 

An example of a product that has had styrene taint problems over the years has been dairy products such as coffee creamer and condensed milk packed in thermo-formed PS single serve portion pack containers holding 5-10 g of product. The high package mass and surface area ratio to product and high fat content of the product make this package/product system a challenging system to optimize.

Before proceeding along this line, however, it is necessary to establish that the dryer is genuinely heat and mass balance limited. If the system is controlled by kinetics or equilibria, changing the parameters may have undesirable side effects, e.g., increasing the product moisture content.
