2 Production of Staple Fiber Yarns with Defined Properties 

In Germany, the cost of raw materials makes up more than 50% of the overall production cost. To reduce the percentage of raw materials cost and to achieve the required properties of the final product, fibers of different characteristics are blended. For the prediction of product properties and processing costs, standards need to be established that determine suitable blending partners and blending ratios. Not only synthetic and natural fibers from primary raw materials but also secondary raw materials need to be considered. 

Another trend is the further development of the spinning methods using swirling techniques for the production of combination yarns of defined properties from staple fibers, filaments, and elastane.
