Product abuse

It is difficult to be precise about details of product abuse, as the form this takes can be wide-ranging. Some of the abuse to which rubber to metal bonded products are submitted is totally preventable whilst others are purely accidental. The most frequent cause of failure are

Most of the common household and commercial products abused as inhalants are not regulated under the Controlled Substances Act or any other national law in the United States. As a result, many state legislatures have attempted to deter youths from abusing them by placing restrictions on their sale to minors. Misuse- and abuse-related hazards. These hazards are concerned with the product usage by people and past experiences indicate that the misuse of products can lead to serious injuries. These three groups were also compared to see whether there were any other differences between the interview-confirmed cases and the positive questionnaire respondents in their pattern of solvent abuse. None were found. As shown in Tables 18 and 19, the three groups were comparable with respect to the type and number of different products abused. (For the sake of brevity, the interview-confirmed cases will from now on be referred to simply as the cases ). 

The psychological test results of the cases and controls were examined in relation to (a) the length of time since the child s most recent episode of solvent abuse, (b) the type of product abused, (c) the number of different products abused, and (d) the length of time since solvents had first been abused. Table 37 summarizes the results of these analyses by indicating the tests on which statistically significant relationships were observed.
