Process Instructions and Normal Operating Procedures

Written instructions for all processes should be provided, which make clear who is responsible for the various actions involved in operating the process. (See also case histories Al 79-81, pages 188-189.) Ideally there should be two types of process instructions  [Pg.135]

The detailed technical documentation is for use by technically qualified people [Pg.135]

Appendix 5 shows a typical table of contents for a detailed technical documentation manual. Further information is given in Reference 127. [Pg.135]

The basic operating instructions are for use by plant operators. They should be clear and simple and should list  [Pg.136]

A charge sheet should be used to record the weight or volume of each reactant and the batch temperature. Each action should be initialled by the operator as it is carried out. so the progress of the batch can be followed and the start of any process deviation identified. This procedure is also useful to define the state of the batch if there is a shift change during the process. [Pg.136]
