Process Equipment and Procedures

This chapter covers safety considerations in design, installation, operation, and maintenance of selected process equipment and auxiliary systems. The first section (3.1) briefly discusses the impact of material selection on process equipment safety. Section 3.2 introduces the subject of corrosion and its control. The following more specific topics are then covered  [Pg.87]

The vital subjects of pressure relief and the use of safety valves and other protective devices would normally be considered in the context of pressure vessel safety. Since this chapter does not discuss vessels directly, some considerations on pressure relief and a list of applicable standards are included in Section 3.4.2 on piping. [Pg.87]

Each of die types of equipment listed above has its own specific requirements. A group of common considerations, however, applies to all of the above topics. [Pg.87]

Persons familiar with the operation of the facility if the facility has no operating history, then operators from similar facilities may be included on the team. Frontline personnel are preferable, as they usually have the most accurate knowledge of the process equipment and procedures used during day-to-day operation, and are highly motivated to identify and eliminate hazards. [Pg.106]

Oxidation without UV activation is preferred. The problems associated with UV activation are discussed in Disposal ofNeutralent Wastes (NRC, 2001c). These include the need for special equipment, reduced effectiveness for opaque solutions, and fouling of the optical surfaces. Eor chemical oxidation not catalyzed by UV light, conventional chemical process equipment and procedures are used. [Pg.54]

How are maintenance personnel trained on new processes, equipment, and procedures ... [Pg.166]

Chapter 3, Process Equipment and Procedures, covers safety considerations in the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of selected process equipment and auxiliary systems. [Pg.2]
