Dr. I.M. Mujtaba is a Senior Lecturer in Chemical Engineering in the School of Engineering, Design Technology at the University of Bradford and is a member of the University Senate. He is a Fellow of the IChemE, a Chartered Chemical Engineer and is currently the Secretary of the IChemE s Computer Aided Process Engineering Subject Group. [Pg.398]

There are many excellent textbooks on the subject of distillation, however with the explosion of information on the World Wide Web, process engineers can now gain almost instant access to calculation methods and model simulations which will walk the engineer through the important design steps. The following Web sites are recommended to be reviewed and accessed by the reader. [Pg.243]

As a preventive measure, gas detectors are normally placed at the air intakes of manned facilities, critical switchgear shelters and internal combustion engines subject to vapor exposures, i.e., near process areas handling gases and vapor. The facility air intakes themselves should be positioned to prevent the intake of combustible gases from these areas, even during accident scenarios. [Pg.186]

In this article, results are presented for thermal expansion coefficient of liquids. The results are useful in process engineering applications including the design of relief systems for process equipment containing liquids that are subject to thermal expansion. [Pg.145]

Sequential Modular. By far the most experience with flowsheeting systems has been with the sequential modular architecture (59- 3). It is this architecture that is most easily understood by the process engineer. Each module calculates all output streams from input streams subject to module parameters. Generally, the stream variables consist of component flows, temperature (or enthalpy) and pressure as the independent variables. Other dependent variables such as total flow, fraction vapor and total enthalpy (or temperature) are often carried in the stream. [Pg.16]

A good future-state mapping team is comprised of people who will actually perform the work later, a good facilitator or team leader, the person who is in charge of the process (process owner), and any others as needed, such as scientists, engineers, subject-matter experts, suppliers, regulators, or customers. [Pg.282]

This section is a general discussion of the design process. The subject of this book is chemical engineering design, but the methodology described in this section applies equally to other branches of engineering. [Pg.2]
