The problem solving guidelines used by various e qperts appear to have a fairly well defined structure. The rules themselves seem to be self evident and quite general but their general application is not uniform since problem solving is presently an art usually based on the analyst s intuition and individual problem solving ability. We suspect that with further miniaturization this approach will not suffice but will need to be replaced by more consistent, systematic methods that are machine based. This should standardize the methods and make them more efficient. [Pg.15]
