Under REACH, it is anticipated that the level of data generated through registration and evaluation will be sufficient to perform such an analysis. The operability of this prioritisation scheme is tested in Chapter 6 for the same 33 chemicals used to test the decision-making matrix. [Pg.230]

In addition, there have also been a number of efforts to find more efficient ways to categorise and enumerate compounds. One approach to defining the relationship of compounds to each other uses a chemical space defined by a set of 500 compounds described with 60 molecular descriptors onto which novel compounds can then be mapped.116 Another approach that has been described uses a rule-based classification scheme to define the common scaffold or core of compounds.117 This approach has been taken further to develop a scoring function to allow the prioritisation of compound libraries for testing.118... [Pg.265]

The UK MOD base their acceptance of hazards on a risk classification scheme, which is based on the combination of the severity, probability and time of exposure for each particular hazard. For the purposes of the accident risk classification scheme, accidents are considered single events (Table B.9). These classifications can be combined to determine a hazard risk index (HRI), which is a numerical risk factor that can be used to prioritise the need for corrective action or resolution. The HRI matrix in Table B. 10 is an example showing how the hazard severity and the hazard probability categories combine to yield the HRI. [Pg.300]

The IHT guidelines describe how Road Safety Audits may be carried out on local streets in relation to advice given in Manual for Streets. In this case, it is recommended that Road Safety Audits should be carried out as part of a comprehensive quality audit. The use of risk assessments is also suggested for schemes in local streets as a way of prioritising the safety issues identihed, and a methodology for such assessments is included. [Pg.8]
