Freud and James were both children of their age, sharing a fascination with the burgeoning brain sciences. Freud went even further than James had done in his Principles of Psychology (1890) when, in his Project for a Scientific Psychology (1895), he focused attention not just upon the brain as the organ of the mind, but upon its constituent neurons, their organization as circuits, and the flow of information within them as the physical basis of normal and aberrant consciousness.

The main purpose of chemistry lessons is to acquaint students with nature or everyday phenomena and help them to understand what is going on in nature all guidelines for chemical education, schoolbooks and most curricula should aim at achieving this goal. Based on these observations, they will find initial explanations and will develop their cognitive structure.
