Principles and Machinery for Production of Woven Fabrics

A woven fabric consists of two or more thread systems that are perpendicular to each other warp threads and weft threads. The warp threads run in the machine direction and are wound on the warp beam in the desired number and thread density (Section 4.4). [Pg.141]

Weaving has been used to manufacture textile fabrics for more than 5000 years. Today, it is still the predominant technique for the production of fabrics worldwide. The overall production of woven fabrics is about 30 million tons per year (Gesamt-verband Textil+Mode, 2013). [Pg.141]

The German nomenclature is explained in the DIN papers DIN 60900, DIN 63955, DIN ISO 5239, and DIN ISO 9354. Further details about the weaving preparation and process are given in Choogin et al (2013), Gandhi (2012), and Behera (2010). [Pg.141]
