Although it is the most important single document, the final published report is only a portion of the overall record of the investigation. A full and complete set of documents should be maintained for future reference. This systematic documentation package is sometimes referred to as the audit trail. It provides subsequent reviewers and investigators with the opportunity to understand the team s decisions and analysis more completely. The document set should contain lists of relevant files. All documents associated with the investigation should be preserved according to the company records retention plan. 

An understanding of the retention of sulfur in lake sediments is important for paleolimnological reconstructions, for an understanding of the alkalinity balance of lakes, for determination of rates and pathways of diagenesis, and for an understanding of the dynamics of the microbial loop in sediments. N-Tfa- and iV-Fmoc-a-amino ketones have been synthesized56 by reaction of some N -heterocycles or benzene with chiral AM Tfa- and Fmoc-a-aminoacyl)benzotriazoles [e.g. (49)] in the presence of aluminium trichloride. Full preservation of chirality was reported. Aromatic side-chains in some of the (a-amineacyl)benzotriazole compounds gave a competitive intramolecular cyclization, again with retention of chirality [e.g. (49) to (50)]. A full report57 on the intramolecular acylation of aromatics with Meldrum s acid derivatives catalysed by metal trifluoromethanesulfonates under mild reaction conditions has appeared [e.g. (51) to (52)]. The method tolerates many functional groups and was extended to the synthesis of 1-tetralones, 1-benzosuberones and donepezil (53).
