Preparation of the Thermo-Activated Silica TSi Samples

As a rule, the silica surface is covered with a layer of silanol groups (=Si-0-H) and adsorbed water, which can be removed by drying at temperatures of 600K [5,6]. With a rise in temperature, the concentration of silanol [Pg.236]

These reactions proceed even at 300 K at a vapor pressure of 10 2Torr. Hence, their activation energies do not exceed few kilocalories per mole. [Pg.237]

On the basis of the spectral and kinetic data, these groups were ascribed cyclic four-member structure (=Si-0)2Si 02 Si(0-Si=) [4]. This allows one to refine the structure of the reaction products  [Pg.237]

The hypothesis for a possible stabilization of such groups at the silica surface was proposed by Perry in 1966 [7]. [Pg.237]
