Preparation of Functional Groups

Most undergraduate textbooks cover the preparation of functional groups but do not necessarily give the best or most widely used methods. See ... [Pg.208]

Preparation of functional groups - Listing of transformations in tabular format.526... [Pg.502]

In this Report the published literature is discussed under the headings mechanistic aspects, emulsion copolymerization, use of emulsion polymerization to prepare functional-group latices, use of emulsion polymerization to prepare model colloids, chemical engineering aspects, and miscellaneous topics. The mechanistic aspects are sub-divided into those pertaining to Intervals I, II, III, and other aspects, and the preparation of functional-group latices into those in which the functionality is a carboxylic-acid group and those in which it is of other types. While these headings are convenient, it should be borne in mind that they are not mutually exclusive, and that considerable overlap of subject matter is inevitable. [Pg.32]

Preparation of Functional-group Latices by Emulsion Copolymerization... [Pg.38]

Examples of the removal of one functional group from bifunctional compounds and the preparation of functional groups from groups not listed on the index are included in the miscellaneous sections for example, RCH(Br)COR- RCH2COR, RCH(OH)COR RCH2COR and RCH = CHCOR -> RCH2CH2COR (ketones from miscellaneous compounds), RCH2N02- RCHO (aldehydes from miscellaneous compounds). [Pg.540]
