Preparation of an LCA for Biodegradable Plastics

The following aspects should be taken into account when preparing a life cycle assessment for biodegradable plastics. All the methodological decisions, assumptions and key data should be specified in the text. In addition to the aspects listed in this checklist the life cycle assessment must comply with the requirements specified in the ISO standards 14040 to 14043 [1-4]. 

1 Country of origin Where is the biomass used grown  

2 Type of cultivation Is the biomass grown by intensive or extensive cultivation  

3 Fertilisers Have the effects related to the production of fertilisers been taken into 

4 Carbon balance plant growth Is carbon uptake during plant growth
