Potassium ohloride

This method has a disadvantage as the product entrains potassium ohloride the removal of which constitutes a very difficult and laborious operation. [Pg.447]

By combining this ratio -with the potassium-ohloride ratios of Richards and Stahler and the Ag Cl ratio of Richards and Wells, the atomic weights of silver, ohlorine, and potassium can be calculated. Taking 0 = 16, the computation gives K=39-097. See also p. 87. [Pg.158]

An apparatus has been developed392 for the analysis of a mixture containing tri-chlorosilane, methyldichlorosilane, silicon tetrachloride, trimethylchlorosilane, di-methyldichlorosilane and methyltrichlorosilane by gas-liquid chromatography on a column of nitrobenzene supported on Celite 545. The column is eluted with nitrogen and the emergent gas is absorbed in flowing 0.01 N potassium ohloride. Hydrolysis of the silanes yields hydrochloric acid which alters the electrical resistance of the potassium chloride solution and this permits quantitative analysis of the silane mixture. [Pg.425]

Methyl ohloride—CH,C1—50.5—is a colorless gas, slightly soluble in H,0, and having a sweetish taste and odor. It is obtained by distilling together H,SO sodium chloride and methyl achohol. It may be condensed to a Umiid which boils at —22 (—7 .6F,). It bums with a greenish fleune. Heated with potassium hydrate it is converted into methyl coboL... [Pg.149]

By passing borio ohloride over boated potassium — 2BC1, + 8K, - 8KC1 + B,. [Pg.72]
