Post-perovskite

Murakami, M., Hirose, K., Kawamura, K., Sata, N., Ohishi, Y. (2004). Post-perovskite phase transition in MgSiOj. Science 304,855-858. [Pg.426]

In the region of the core-mantle boundary Mg-perovskite transforms to a "post-perovskite phase" (Oganov Ono, 2004). This phase is likely to be the dominant phase of the D" layer and its presence may explain many of the unusual physical properties of this layer. This phase transition is exothermic and so this discovery also has important implications for the generation of mantle plumes at the core-mantle boundary. [Pg.75]

The transformation of olivine to spinel which delineates the onset of the Transition Zone in the Mantle is isochemical. However, in the Lower Mantle the (Mg,Fe)2Si04 stoichiometry appears to be unstable with respect to denser oxide structure-types. One post-spinel transformation that has been the subject of numerous investigations is the spinel to periclase plus perovskite transition... [Pg.388]

The polymerization of compound 106a was studied more in detail. A y-ray dose of 30 Mrad is sufficient to nearly cause a complete conversion to polymer. However, the reactivity strongly depends on the morphology of the crystals and a txrnsiderable amount of polymer is formed due to a post-irradiative polymerization This is in contrast to the photoreaction in layer perovskites From X-ray powder patterns of 106a a layer structure with a head-head-tail-tail orientation of the monomers is evident This packing is different from the structure... [Pg.137]

Given the unique MIEC properties of perovskites, these materials can be employed in the design of membrane-based solutions for CO2 capture. A general view of possible membrane implementation potentials is provided in Figure 39.1. We compile below the current developments of perovskite-based or -containing membranes for oxy-, pre-, and post-combustion CO2 capture scenarios, including membrane reactor applications. [Pg.889]

The integration of MC membranes and fuel cells within NG combined cycle (NGCC) plants can outperform conventional amine absorption NGCC retrofitting strategies for post-combustion CO2 capture [66]. Furthermore, DPMs based on MCs impregnated in porous MIEC materials such as perovskites can be used... [Pg.892]

Although hard-templating synthesis provides a simple and versatile pathway to fabricate ID perovskite nanomaterials, the quantity produced in each run is relatively small. Removal of the template through a post-synthesis process may also cause damage to the product. Furthermore, the so-obtained samples are often polycrystalline, which may limit their use in device fabrication and fundamental studies [42]. Therefore, it is highly demanded to develop alterative methods that are effective to synthesize ID perovskite nanomaterials. [Pg.11]
