Polytetrafluoroethylene billet

Billet - Refers to a solid or hollow cylindrical object usually made from polytetrafluoroethylene and occasionally made from other fluoropolymers. [Pg.522]

Skiving - This is a popular method for producing films and tapes of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Skiving resembles peeling an apple where a sharp blade is used at a low angle to the surface of a billet (cylinder) of PTFE. A similar method is used in the production of wood veneer from trees. [Pg.543]
