Polypeptide dendron

Simple geometric considerations suggest that block copolymers with a (hyper-) branched hydrophobic segment of polypeptide grafts or a polypeptide dendron, like the ones described by Chen et al. [45] (PE()i33-b-PFJ233-g-PBLGlu23-269) and Frechet et al. [46] (PFOm, 227-h-[G-3]-PALLys) (Fig. 6),... 

Denkewalter et al. [90] reported the synthesis of monodendron polyamides through generation 10. The scheme involved protection/deprotection methods commonly used by polypeptide chemists. Dendron construction started with benzhydrylamine as the initiator core and an activated ester of amino-protected L-lysine as the branching reagent (Scheme 4). 

Tam and co-workers [105-107] produced related dendrons on a Merrifield resin oilowed by surface functionalization with various antigenic polypeptide sequences. comparison of molar mass, number of terminal groups, and dimensions as a function of generation for the Denkewalter dendrons is shown in Table 1. Unlike ill the other dendron examples reported, the branch cells in this system are lnsymmetrical since they are constructed from unequal branchcell-segments as iescribed in Sect. 4.3.2.
