The stability characteristics of two different antiperspirant lotion systems were compared. Sample 1 represented an aqueous emulsion containing an aluminum salt. An o/w emulsion is made from 20% sorbitan tristearate with an HLB value of 2.1 and 80% polyoxyethylene sorbitan monostearate with an HLB value of 14.9.

The most frequently used ingredients in shaving products are fatty acids (e.g. stearic acid), surfactants (e.g. triethanolamine), emulsifiers (e.g. lanolin, polyoxyethylene sorbitan monostearate), solvents and emollients (e.g. glycerin and other alcohols).
