The copolymers may be mixed with other demulsifiers, in particular with alkoxylated novolaks and copolymers that are obtainable by copolymerization of one or more polyoxyalkylene ethers of allyl or methallyl alcohol with vinyl esters of alkyl monocarboxylic acids.

Polyoxyalkylene ethers based on propylene oxide or propylene oxide/ethylene oxide copolymers have also been described as useful flexibilizers. DGEBA-terminated ethylene oxide/propylene oxide polyethers (30/70) have been used to modify DGEBA-based adhesives by improving room temperature shear and peel strengths. 

Surfactants. Silicone surfactants, which are used in rigid urethane foams, can be used as surfactants for pyranyl foam jn-eparation. The silicone surfactants are block copolymers of polydimethylsiloxane-polyoxyalkylene ether in either linear or pendant structures. 

A special group of polyoxyalkylene ethers are used as nonionic surfactants. These surfactants were introduced around 1940 and are made up of a hydrophobic end and hydrophilic end (polyoxyalkylene ether) comprising about 60-75 wt% of the molecule [approximately ICH2CH2O imit for ICH2 group].

Besides, stearate is also a potent antifoam agent. For instance, Ming Li Shi et al. studied the relationships between antifoaming potential and the number of hydrophilic groups as well as HLB of polyoxyalkylene ethers and its stearates. Their results confirmed that the distearate of polyoxyalkylene presented higher antifoam ability [39]. 

Silicone-based materials are an important class of polymeric surfactants that are commonly used in the cosmetic industry. They consist of poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) that is modified by incorporation of specific groups for special applications. For example, dimethicone copolyol (used as emulsifier or dispersant) is typically a copolymer of PDMS and polyoxyalkylene ether. Aminofunctional silicones provide excellent hair-conditioning benefit. Polyether-modified silicones, including terpolymers containing an alkyl or polyglucoside moiety, are very effective emulsifiers for water-silicone emulsions. These silicone surfactants act as defoamers, depending on the amount and type of glycol modification. They are also used to reduce skin irritation. 

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy also finds wide application in the study of adhesion phenomena [84] and may claim a history of defining loci of failure. Adhesion failure due to moulding compound additives (such as wax, polyoxyalkylene ethers and alkylsiloxanes) in epoxy-phenolics at chip surfaces in electronic devices was studied by XPS and SAM [85]. Hame treated PP compounds have been characterised by XPS and predictive information could be obtained on paint adhesion behaviour [86]. Results are highly relevant to automotive applications replacing other time-consuming paint tests.
