Polymer mixed polymers

Copolymers of isobutene with styrene (< 10 %) and isoprene (< 3 %) may be used for the manufacture of food contact materials. The following polymerizates and polymer mixes can be added to these polymerizates polyethylene, polypropylene, styrene-acrylonitrile mixed polymers, mixed polymers of ethylene, propylene, butylene, vinyl esters and unsaturated aliphatic acids as well as salts and esters and polybutene-1. [Pg.27]

The bmshes can be made from a homopolymer or from a mixture of polymers. Mixed polymer bmshes can be diblock copolymers grafted to the surfaces of a substrate to produce diblock copolymer bmshes (DCBs). These DCBs are often stimuli responsive materials it is possible to switch the surface properties of DCBs from those characteristic of one polymer to those of another polymer using solvent selection as shown in Figure 60.When the environment of a mixed polymer bmsh is changed, the polymer chains respond to the change in. A mixed polymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile (Perbunan, Hycar, Chemigum) may be vulcanised like rubber and possesses good resistance to oils and solvents in general. [Pg.1016]

The above batch process has undergone numerous refinements to improve yields, processing characteristics, purity, and storage stabiUty, but it remains the standard method of manufacture for these products. Recentiy a continuous process has been reported by Bayer AG (6) wherein the condensation is carried out in an extmder. The by-products are removed in a degassing zone, and the molten polymer, mixed with stabilizers, is subsequendy cracked to yield raw monomer. [Pg.178]

Reduction or even complete compensation of birefringence by mixing polymers with positive birefringence (PC, PVC, PETP, PPE, PVDF, etc) with polymers with negative birefringence (PMMA, PS, PAN, etc) has been the consistent strategy. [Pg.162]

The chemical resistance and excellent light stabiUty of poly(methyl methacrylate) compared to two other transparent plastics is illustrated in Table 5 (25). Methacrylates readily depolymerize with high conversion, ie, 95%, at >300° C (1,26). Methyl methacrylate monomer can be obtained in high yield from mixed polymer materials, ie, scrap. [Pg.262]

PVC should not be melt-mixed with acetal polymers. These polymers are chemically incompatible mixing could cause rapid decomposition and gas evolution. [Pg.508]

The power required for most polymer mixing applications varies from 0.15to0.3kWh/kg. [Pg.1648]

Polymer fibres are produced by forcing molten polymer or polymer in solution through fine nozzles (spinnerettes). The fibres so formed are twisted into a yarn and woven into fabric. Finally, polymers may be expanded into foams by mixing in chemicals that release COj bubbles into the molten polymer or the curing resin, or by expanding a dissolved gas into bubbles by reducing the pressure. [Pg.257]

At the downstream of the extrusion process a suitable reaction catalyst, reactive diluent, e.g., crosslinking monomer, is fed into the molten polymer mix. [Pg.660]

Ultrafast photoinduced electron transfer in semiconducting polymers mixed with controlled amounts of acceptors this phenomenon has opened the way to a variety of applications including high-sensitivity plastic photodiodes, and efficient plastic solar cells ... [Pg.4]

The emulsifier aminomethyl propanol serves several purposes in hairspray. It acts as a buffering agent, controlling the acidity of the mixture to make it neutral ( pH balanced ). It also helps keep the polymers mixed with the water and alcohol, and controls the water solubility of the final mist, giving it the needed humidity resistance. It also helps to form the polymers into a gel. [Pg.235]

At this point we have to consider that we are working with a complex material containing a mixed polymer (as was proved by the influence of the conditions of synthesis on electrochemical properties), a solvent, and... [Pg.425]

Mixed solvents are generally unsatisfactory for use in the determination of polymer molecular weights owing to the likelihood of selective absorption of one of the solvent components by the polymer coil. The excess of polarizabilit f of the polymer particle (polymer plus occluded solvent) is not then equal to the difference between the polarizabilities of the polymer and the solvent mixture. For this reason the refractive increment dn/dc which would be required for calculation of K, or of i7, cannot be assumed to equal the observed change in refractive index of the medium as a whole when polymer is added to it, unless the refractive indexes of the solvent components happen to be the same. The size Vmay, however, be measured in a mixed solvent, since only the dissymmetry ratio is required for this purpose. [Pg.302]
