Polymer laminates polycondensation

Reaction of polyhydroxy compounds with polybasic acids gives rise to condensation polymers containing ester (—COO—) groups. Because of the presence of these groups such polycondensates are known as polyesters and find use in such diverse applications as fibres, surface coatings, plasticisers, rubbers and laminating resins. These materials are discussed in detail in Chapter 25. [Pg.556]

Polyfluorene with on-chain ruthenium complex (polymer 49) has been synthesized by Suzuki polycondensation [77]. The photoluminescence of the copolymer was slightly blue-shifted as the concentration of dipyridy-lamine increased. The introduction of dipyridylamine and the ruthenium complex into the polymer significantly improved the photoluminescence efficiency. [Pg.141]

Propanediol 131 (1,3-PDO) could potentially be used for many synthetic applications, particularly as a monomer for polycondensations to produce polyesters, polyethers and polyurethanes [268], 1,3-PDO also has a number of other interesting possibilities in addition to polymer production. It can give improved properties for solvents, adhesives, laminates, resins, detergents and cosmetic [269]. [Pg.391]
