In previous sections, we have shown that, although nanoclays can improve viscosity and reduce the peak HRR/MLR, their effects on ignition, the THR, and production of toxic gases are limited. The effects of ERs on the TTI for the EV/k/LDPE-based materials are shown in Table 8.4. There is a substantial increase in the TTI in the presence of FRs (ATH or MH), except at the lowest heat flux (20 kW/m ), where similar TTIs were observed for all materials.
