Polyesters Right now, you are probably using at least five things that are made from polyesters. Your clothes probably have some Dacron polyester fiber in them, and they are almost certainly sewn with Dacron thread. Your computer is using floppy disks made of Mylar , and your VCR is playing a tape made of Mylar . Some of the electronics in your computer are probably potted (covered and insulated from shock) in Glyptal polyester resin. The soft drink in your hand probably came in a plastic bottle that was blow-molded from polyfethylene terephthalate) resin, better known as ffiT. 

Details of the structure of fibers grown from the melt have been derived from an X-ray fiber analysis for the example of polyfethylene terephthalate) [23-25]. McKee et al. (2004b) reported that the fiber diameter d for electrospinning of polyfethylene terephthalate-co-ethylene isophthalate) copolymers from CHCfi/DMF (70/30) scaled with the ratio c/cj d c/c f ). 

Polyesters account for approximately 40% of the synthetic fibers produced in the United States. Polyfethylene terephthalate), also known as PET, is the major polyester. It is a copolymer of ethylene glycol and terephthahc acid.
