Polyethylene Recycling - Waste-to-Energy

One positive outcome from the debate on the utilization of plastics over the past 30 years has been the growth in the effort to collect and recycle polyethylene in order to fabricate new polyethylene products from the recycled material, or the utilization of organic waste as fuel to generate electricity, commonly referred to as waste-to-energy. [Pg.43]

The polyethylene recycling effort will most likely continue to increase in the future and will have an effect on the amount of polyethylene capacity that may be needed in the future. Certainly this type of recycling program will result in the more efficient use of hydrocarbon feedstock and should be encouraged by the polyethylene industry. [Pg.43]
