Polycyclic aromatics formylation

The procedure is of value for the formylation of polycyclic aromatic and heteroaromatic systems, phenols and phenolic ethers. 

Other Acylation Reactions. A limited number of studies have shown N-formylation to be a genuine route of conjugation for some arylalkylamines and arylamines, particularly polycyclic aromatic amines. There is evidence to indicate that the reaction is catalyzed by arylformamidase (EC 3.5.1.9) in the presence ofN-formyl-L-kynurenine.
