Polycyclic aromatic nitrogen cations review

Typical examples of tricyclic aromatic nitrogen cations are summarized for comparison with the synthesis of polycyclic aromatic nitrogen cations, since the reviews by Bradsher (69ACR181 84MI1) and Jones [82 AHC(31)1] have described synthetic methods for tricyclic ring systems. Recent developments also will be described. 

Finally, S. Arai and M. Hida review polycyclic aromatic nitrogen cations containing bridgehead (ring fusion) nitrogen atoms. The chemistry of quinolizinium salts was covered by Thyagarajan in Volume 5 of our series back in 1965, and although other partial reviews are available, we now have for the first time a modem comprehensive treatment.
