Polycarbonate gold coated

One example is gold coated onto Mylar in which slits have been cut into the Mylar film to allow ions from the electrolyte to diffuse between the slits and contact the active polymer layer [250]. Another example uses a porous plastic membrane, e.g., nylon, polycarbonate, polyester, or polysulfone, which is also coated with a layer of gold. The gold-coated porous substrate allows faster ion diffusion and thus faster and more uniform switching of the active polymer layer than with the sKtted-type device [120,250,260,261]. 

Ellipsometry quantification and rapid visual detection of DNA hybridization, using biotinylated target sequences, on amorphous sihcon and diamond-like carbon deposited on a porous polycarbonate membrane, creating a gold-coloured reflective test surface coated with immobihzed ssDNA capture probe were described by Ostroif et al. [38]. 

For SEM examination the same amount of the starting suspension was filtered on a polycarbonate filter, 0.2 /am pore size and 25 mm diameter, placed on a backing cellulosic filter of 1.2 /am pore size, in order to facilitate a more uniform distribution of particles on the filter. A small portion of the particles-laden filter was then mounted on SEM stubs by double sided sticky tape and then coated by gold of about 300 nm thick in a sputter coater [11]. 

Five wt% MWNT-filled polycarbonate composites (untreated and treated) were prepared through a solution method described elsewhere [23] and compression molded at 220°C under a pressure of 1 ton for 40 minutes to produce samples with a dog-bone geometry and dimensions W x W x Vi The samples were tensile stretched on an Instron machine in liquid nitrogen. This created a sharp fracture surface. Some samples were coated with gold and examined in a field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) under 12 kV.
