Two-component systems consist of (1) polyol or polyamine, and (2) isocyanate. The hardening starts with the mixing of the two components. Due to the low viscosities of the two components, they can be used without addition of solvents. The mass ratio between the two components determines the properties of the bond line. Linear polyols and a lower surplus of isocyanates give flexible bond lines, whereas branched polyols and higher amounts of isocyanates lead to hard and brittle bond lines. The pot life of the two-component systems is determined by the reactivity of the two components, the temperature and the addition of catalysts. The pot life can vary between 0.5 and 24 h. The cure at room temperature is completed within 3 to 20 h. [Pg.1069]

The investigation of the chemical modification of dextran to determine the importance of various reaction parameters that may eventually allow the controlled synthesis of dextran-modified materials has began. The initial parameter chosen was reactant molar ratio, since this reaction variable has previously been found to greatly influence other interfacial condensations. Phase transfer catalysts, PTC s, have been successfully employed in the synthesis of various metal-containing polyethers and polyamines (for instance 26). Thus, the effect of various PTC s was also studied as a function of reactant molar ratio. [Pg.429]

Kamei et al. [45] separated spermine, spermidine, putrescine, and cadav-erine in an ion-pair reversed-phase LC system and detected the hydrogen peroxide formed in the reaction catalyzed by the enzymes putrescine oxidase and polyamine oxidase with POCL. The same analytes were determined in a later study [46], together with the acetyl derivatives. The sensitive determination of uric acid, selectively converted to hydrogen peroxide by uricase, has been investigated by several authors [37, 47],... [Pg.158]

On the other hand, several oxidases are known to generate hydrogen peroxide, acting as an oxidant in the CL system, from corresponding substrates. IMERs in which the oxidases are immobilized on adequate supporting materials such as glass beads have been developed. IMERs are often used for flow injection with CL detection of uric acid and glucose, and are also applicable to the CL determination of acetylcholine, choline, polyamines, enzyme substrates, etc., after online HPLC separation. [Pg.403]

IEC was applied to determine biogenic polyamines such as putrescine (4a), cadaverine (4b), tyramine (5), histamine (6), spermidine (38), agmatine (39) and tryptamine (40), contained in aqueous trichloroacetic extracts of leafy vegetables, such as cabbage and lettuce. A cation exchange column loaded with potassium ions and a special buffer were used. Spermidine (38) was the major amine detected in this group (7-15 Xg/g fresh weight)144. [Pg.1069]

Aboul-Enein and Al-Duraibi (1998) employed dansyl chloride in a fluorescence assay for PUT, SP, SPD, and their acetylated derivatives by ion-pair reverse-phase chromatography. This assay could be applied to the separation of free and acetylated polyamines in biological samples. Dansyl chloride has also been used as the fluorescence reagent in the determination of polyamines in urine by Molins-Legua and colleagues (1999). Derivatization was carried out within the C18 cartridges that were used during the SPE extraction procedure. Recoveries were 80-95% for all four polyamines analyzed and the hmit of detection was 10 ng/ml. [Pg.28]
