There are few strictly comparable structurally characterized alkynyl/diynyl/poly-ynyl systems, which make detailed comparisons between the various unsaturated ligands difficult. For diynyl and poly-ynyl complexes, this is no doubt due to the poor packing qualities of the rod-like mono-metallic systems and resulting poor crystal quality.
