Poly dimethylsiloxane as a Non-volatile Reaction Medium

To date there have been very few investigations into non-volatile liquid polymers other than PEG used in chemical reactions. PPG has been used to some [Pg.182]

PDMS and PMPS possess low toxicities and are widely used in consumer products, but there are conflicting reports on their biodegradation. UV absorbance measurements show that PMPS has a polarity intermediate [Pg.184]

PDMS has also been used as a reaction medium in the preparation of polymeric dispersions. In these examples, an epoxy end group functionalized PDMS was used and an oil-in-oil emulsion was formed with the reacting monomer (vinyl acetate or vinyl pyrrolidone). There are likely to be further advances in this area during the next few years. [Pg.185]
