Poly comb-shaped copolymers

By modification of L-asparaginase with a comb-shaped copolymer of MA and poly(oxyethylene) allyl methyl diether, the enzymatic activity is retained, the half-life is increased, and the enzyme is also stabilized toward heat, urea and acidity [112]. 

Figure 4.30 shows TEM images of the lead-stained comb-shaped copolymer membranes the dark areas correspond to the hydrophilic poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) graft chains. The TEM images clearly show phase-separated wormlike domains. 

The concept where amphiphihc molecules are hydrogen bonded to one block of a block copolymer to form specific comb-shaped supramolecules allows the production of nanoporous materials in a straightforward way. The concept is illustrated in Fig. 24. The procedure was first applied to a polystyrene-bZocfc-poly(4-vinylpyridine) diblock copolymer with a stoichiometric amount of pentadecylphenol hydrogen bonded to the P4VP block. The relative block lengths were selected to render a lamellar-m-cylindrical morphology, where the P4VP(PDP) comb-shaped blocks form the cylinders... 

Yuan et al. [165] reported the synthesis of well-defined dendrimer-star, block-comb polymers by the combination of living ring-opening polymerization and atom transfer radical polymerization on the basis of a dendrimer polyester. Star-shaped dendrimer PCLs were synthesized by the bulk polymerization of e-caprolactone with a dendrimer initiator. The dendrimer PCLs tiien were converted into macroinitiators via esterification with 2-bromopropionyl bromide.
