Poly acrylic acid -Cu II complex

The UV irradiation of poly(acryhc acid)-copper(II) complex (3.29) causes the formation of a charge-transfer (CT) complex, which decomposes into polymer carboxy radical and Cu ion [515]  [Pg.127]

The polymer carboxyl radical (3.30) is next decarboxylated into polymer alkyl radical (3.31) and COj  [Pg.128]

The complex (3.32) can absorb the second photon and produce the alkyl-copper intermediate (5.33) and a solvated electron  [Pg.128]

The solvated electron reacts rapidly with copper(II)-poly(acryhc acid) complex (3.29)  [Pg.128]

Evidence for this mechanism has been obtained from transient spectra formed with maxima at 400 and 540 nm. [Pg.128]
