PMMA-dg-Based POF

Since the first SI POF was commercialized, most POFs have been manufactured using PMMA, a mass-produced, commercially available polymer that demonstrates high light transmittance and provides excellent corrosion resistance to both chemicals and weather. These properties, coupled with its low manufacturing costs and easy processing, have made PMMA a valuable substitute [Pg.26]

In addition, the polymer was extensively studied as a base material for GI (graded-index) POFs, and an attenuation of 80 dB/km at 650 nm was achieved in 2005 [33]. [Pg.27]
